ClearOne Badminton claimed 9 medals at the Canadian National Championships topping the provinces of Quebec, Ontario and Alberta in the process.
Anna Rice took gold in the Ladies singles over favourite Michelle Li, while Joycelyn Ko claimed Bronze outfighting Quebec’s Valerie St. Jacques.
Rice then teamed up with Grace Gao of Alberta to win the Bronze Medal match shortly after Derrick Ng won a bronze of his own in the Mixed Doubles with partner Melody Liang.
Toby Ng and Adrian Liu played a valiant final and had two match points before narrowly losing the third set to Alvin Lau and Jon Vandervet 22-20.
ClearOne’s youth team also grabbed attention at the nationals with Christin Tsai, Vancouver’s 15 year old sensation, making the quarter finals of the ladies singles and nearly beating the first seeds in the mixed doubles with partner Nyl Yakura.
Tsai went on to partner Rossalyn Chong to win the consolation Doubles, while Kevin So and Rossalyn Chong took home the consolation mixed doubles.
Phyllis Chan maintained her status as one of the best all round players in Caada by making 2 quarter-finals, while Tim Ma and Ajit Sidhu showed signs of the future by stretching their respective opponents to the limit before exiting the event.
